about
In director Rebecca Taichman’s concept for the Broadway production of the play “Indecent”, which I participated in as the understudy to my mentor Lisa Gutkin, the actors and musicians were all seated motionless onstage for about 30 minutes as the audience filtered in. Then, the lights would go down, and the musicians and actors would shake off their dust as the play came to life. The melody for “Reina’s March” came to me as I was sitting onstage during one of these pre-show periods. I named it after my favorite character in that play.
I composed March for Gyula as a continuation. It’s named after my first brácsa teacher, Rácz Gyula.
Raw black metal that brooks no compromises, this has all the ferocious guitars, lo-fi aesthetics and infernal howling you crave. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 30, 2023

One of my favourite musical discoveries in a while. These musicians are seriously talented. I can’t help imagining that there would have been a whole significant subculture of Yiddish psych rock like this in a different, kinder universe. For now, this is a window into that world that might have been. And I love every second of it. Audrey
