An exploration of the rhythm that klezmer players call “bulgar”, which is a hallmark of the part of the klezmer repertoire which Eastern-European immigrants developed in America. This piece is a journey through different aspects of the bulgar, starting with a moderate csárdás/ bulgar mashup and culminating with a fast, Hasidic-influenced fast bulgar which borders on the unhinged.
